Kate Downing, DPT

Education: BS, Rehabilitation Science, Northeastern University, 2007. Doctor of Physical Therapy, Northeastern University, 2008.
Experience: Kate has clinical experience in a variety of settings including acute care, subacute rehab, hippotherapy and orthopedics. She provided service learning to Boston youth through Fit Kids and has conducted research on the effect of hippotherapy for treatment of children with cerebral palsy as well as diagnosis amongst outpatient physical therapists in Massachusetts. Kate is trained in kinesiotaping for orthopedic injuries and enjoys providing individualized care that helps her patients meet their goals.

Brandt Capone, MPT

Education: BS, Biology, Notre Dame College, 1988; Master's in Physical Therapy, 2002
Experience: Brandt is a dedicated Physical Therapist and team leader with 10 years of clinical orthopedic outpatient experience. He is well-versed in a broad range of PT programs, treatments and modalities focused on restoring function for diseased and injured patients. Brandt established Apple Therapy's Active Back Program, an evidence based approach to the management of patients with back pain. Brandt specializes in spinal manipulation, movement analysis, and sport specific performance enhancement. Brandt has developed and marketed Physical Golf, a comprehensive golf specific fitness and training program. He has introduced this program to physical therapy practices, fitness centers and golf courses throughout New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts.

Laura M. Selmer, PTA

Education: Associate's Degree in Science, Hesser College, 2001
Experience: Received Academic Achievement Awards in modalities and kinesiology and an Excellence in Clinical Education Award while in school; ten years of experience in healthcare and human services.

Lizz Ramirez, PTA

Education: Associate's Degree in Science, Hesser College, 2006
Experience: Received an award in kinesiology while in school; has experience in aquatic therapy, cardiopulmonary and inpatient rehabilitation; is fluent in Spanish.

Shannon Astin, PT

Education: BS in Biology, Master's in Physical Therapy; Notre Dame College
Experience: Has worked in outpatient orthopedic settings in small private practices and hospital-based clinics as well as skilled nursing facilities; has experience with organizing and developing an aqua therapy program for all ages.

Apple Nashua is now offering Pilates based rehabilitation for its patients and one-on-one personal training for clients! We have a full pilates studio including reformer, trapeze table, wunda chair, ladder barrel and spine corrector. Lynn Novier , our director, is a fully trained and certified Pilates instructor through Polestar Pilates. She is certified in both the rehab and studio setting.

Pilates is one of the fastest growing exercise methods in our country. The total body benefits can substantially increase the quality of life through improved core strength, posture, balance, and concentration. Come see and feel the difference!

Lynn Novier, OTR/L, CHT Certified Pilates Instructor

Director
Education: BS, Occupational Therapy, Florida International University, 1987. Board Certified National Registrar Certified Hand Therapist, 1992. Board Certified Hand Therapy Certification Commission Certified Pilates Instructer, 2010. Polestar Education Rehabilitation and Studio Certification PMA eligible.
Experience: Lynn is the executive director at Apple Nashua. She manages the facility as well as directs the hand rehabilitation and Pilates programs. Lynn has extensive experience in all aspects of acute and chronic pre and post surgical rehabilitation of the upper extremity. Her past experience is deeply rooted in the coordinated care with orthopedic surgeons and other musculoskeletal specialists. She currently is fusing her UE/hand experience with Pilates Method exercise for a total body care and wellness approach to rehabilitation. She also is providing Pilates personal training at Apple Nashua in the fully equipped studio.

Carol Lewis, OTR, OT/L, CHT

Education: BS, Occupational Therapy, The State University of New York at Buffalo, 1981
Board Certification: National Registration by the National Board of Certification of Occupational Therapy, 1981. National Registration by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission, 1991. Licensed in the state of New Hampshire. Current board member, NH Occupational Therapy governing Board. Member of the American Society of Hand Therapists.
Experience:Carol is an experienced hand therapist with in-depth knowledge of rehabilitation of the upper extremity. She is able to care for those with acute operative or non-operative needs and chronic conditions. Skilled in the custom fabrication of orthoses for the upper extremity, wound care, manual edema mobilization and rehabilitation for tendonitis and nerve impingements. Carol will provide the care you need.

Meryl Smith, DPT

Education: BS, Allied Health, Simmons College, 2005. Doctor of Physical Therapy, Simmons College, 2007
Experience: Meryl is experienced in various settings including outpatient orthopedics, acute care and short term rehabilitation. She has researched the effects of nicotine on the healing process and prevention of ACL injuries in female athletes. Meryl has experience in the medical exercise therapy technique and is a certified fitter of Quadrastep system of semi-custom orthotics. Meryl enjoys using her knowledge and skills to provide care and education to her patients.
